This weekend, the Trowbridge Flower Show will commence with over 50 window displays brightening the town. Businesses, organizations, and charities across Trowbridge have collaborated to infuse “color, nature, and increased footfall” into the area.
The festival, running until June 16, will feature floral sculptures and eco-activities, inviting both visitors and locals to explore the town through a designated trail. Participants can enter a competition to win prizes such as cinema tickets, gardening sets, and more.
A panel of local councillors and business owners will judge the window displays, adding a competitive edge to the event. The show will also host a variety of activities including a weavers market, studio open days, and gardening talks and demonstrations throughout the week.
Kez Garner, Chair of the Trowbridge Chamber CIC, shared insights into the event’s inception. “The Chamber of Commerce decided just a few weeks ago to create a Flower Festival trail to celebrate old and new businesses and to add color to our town centre,” Garner explained. “The town is undergoing considerable regeneration and has rather a lot of scaffolding and road works in it this summer.”
Garner emphasized the community aspect of the festival, stating, “We love organizing town trails with prizes as a fun way to increase footfall in and around the centre and to introduce people to new places and businesses they may not have visited before.”
The event promises a variety of floral creations, from tea party-themed displays and floral lions to colorful window arrangements, hanging baskets, planters, and flower-related activities, ensuring a vibrant and engaging experience for all attendees.
